Caregiver’s 30 Days of Thanksgiving : Day 30

sarahlhn

Finally the last day of thanksgiving Day 30. I learnt in this period of time that it require discipline and proactive planning to post my 30 days of thanksgiving daily.

Through this thanksgiving exercise, I hope you too will find the benefits of gratitude. According to Harvard Health Publishing, gratitude helps people feel more positive emotions, relish good experiences, improve their health, deal with adversity, and build strong relationships.

Was there a difference in your attitude, sleep or your caregiving journey?

I do. I tend to spend more time thinking of what to be grateful for rather than what did not go as well during the day.

Thanksgiving for today: Being able to plan for uptodate vaccinations and other health matters for my family.

As I am planning for an overseas for my family to a temperate country. I just realised that my daughters have not received their yearly flu vaccination.

Using the HealthHub app, I searched for all the polyclinics to book an appointment. Most of them are booked till March 2023.

Finally, I managed to get an earlier booking at a certain polyclinic which is further away from my home.

I also use the HealthHub to manage my mother's appointments and to plan my family care leave.

I started a whatapps group to gather my external family to inform them of the upcoming appointments and what is the treatment plan.

Delegating the upcoming 4 appointments to various members.

All these cannot be done when I have to rush off to work.

What about you?

Get at least one to two hour respite to plan your care plan for your loved ones, ensure they have sufficient medications so as to reduce crisis due to running out of medications or missing appointments.

Thus will reduce our overall stress.

Let us be thriving caregivers.
